Chris Tatrn
Contemporary Realist Sculpture and Drawings
Colorado Springs Colorado

Chris Tatrn was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania in March 1970. He began private art lessons at the age of 10. In 1989 he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and then the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts/Studio in 1995. During his education and training he began his study of sculpture with Dr. James Nestor. After a few years of working as a graphic designer, Chris returned to study figurative sculpture with Duncan MacDairamid in Pittsburgh. Chris finds inspiration in early Greek and Italian artists and the harmony in how they describe forms in two and three dimensions. His passion drives him to work and study on a daily basis. When working on his own sculptures, Chris draws on his background in Graphic Design and influence from the Bauhaus School of geometric compositions to arrange his own work. The artist describes himself as a representational figurative sculptor and his current focus is on sculpture in relief.
